Liverpool-based project Visions of Albion return with their new single Avenues, releasing on 13th March 2026. Rooted in cinematic atmosphere and classic pop songwriting, the track blends vintage instrumentation with modern production to create a sound that feels both familiar and distinctly contemporary.
Avenues draws on the baroque pop craftsmanship of The Beatles and the darker psychedelic textures of The Doors, combining intimate vocals with layers of marxophones, string arrangements, mellotron tones, and arpeggiated synthesizers. The result is a carefully balanced composition that prioritises mood, space, and emotional progression, unfolding at its own deliberate pace.
There is a strong visual quality to the track, recalling the restrained tension and quiet melancholy of a Jean-Pierre Melville film. Rather than relying on traditional pop structures, Avenues builds gradually, allowing its instrumentation and atmosphere to guide the listener. The arrangement evolves naturally, with each element contributing to a sense of movement and cohesion without overwhelming the song’s core emotional focus.
The influence of late-1960s West Coast and Laurel Canyon music is evident in its melodic sensibility and textural richness, but Visions of Albion approach these influences from a contemporary perspective. Their use of analogue-inspired sounds alongside modern production techniques gives Avenues a timeless quality, rooted as much in atmosphere as in melody.
